Day 6 - 10/29/10 Fri

I skipped my Thursday Day 5 workout...I was really really tired all day and I just ran out of time in the evening. No real excuse - but the promise I made myself was to double up today.

I did my Kempo workout this morning and it was a really great workout...Lots of fun and a good burn for sure...I'm going to complete my shoulders/chest workout and ab ripper tonight. Got to bring it...Weight Watchers weigh in this afternoon..I think I'm under.

I also ordered my supplements today. Vitamins and Recovery as well as upgraded my membership to club level.

Day 4 - 10/27/10 Wed

Yoga X.

I think I will call this, Stretch until you die! I haven't done a real yoga class in 6 years and when I did it, it wasn't nearly this intense...This is an hour 1/2 workout and I only did the first 45 minutes before pressing stop. I was just done...I REALLY spent time concentrating on form so the 45 min I did, I did well. My next goal is to get to the hour, then the hour 15, then the full 1 1/2. I'm sore but stretched today, if that makes any sense. It's a good sore.

I also took my before pictures (day 4 instead of day 1) right after my yoga disk. I still have A LOT of body fat but in comparison to my day 1 Power 90, I can definitely see definition in my arms. I'm going to take the diet seriously and that will help trim the body fat while keeping me strong.

I'm so glad I'm doing this...even if I'm sore.

Day 3- 10/26/10 Tue

Shoulders and Arms

I did it up to the bonus section and then I stopped. I was using too light a weight (10lb) so I need to pick up some 15's and 20's at the store this weekend. It's a hard work out because there is NO downtime, but I can already see a difference just a few days later. Can't wait to do it next week and really max out at my 16 reps.

Day 2- 10/25/10 Mon

Holy Crap this is FUN.

I did the Cardio X routine and actually kept up pretty well. I credit having just come off of Power 90 and the Cardio III/IV routine and possibly my cycle training. I love the exercises and it didn't seem like I was doing anything beyond the point of fatigue...This is a very different experience than I had with Power 90 in the first week. Granted, it's only one DVD out of the 12 and I had a lot of nutrition throughout the day so maybe that's a factor...I'm going to monitor my activity level against my nutrition and see if there is a correlation. Perhaps I'll learn I'm not a morning person. I know that on the AIDS Ride, the first 2 hours always felt like crap and then I seemed to be fine by the 3rd or 4th hour.

I'm also borrowing the nutrition book from a friend of mine because my kit that was also borrowed didn't have one.

Today I also engaged with a 'coach' that I found online...His posts are very entertaining and I appreciate his no-nonsense approach. He has a cute video on how to make an egg burrito...here:

Izzy's breakfast

I'm gonna stretch some than head to bed...I'm so glad I'm doing this.

Day 1 - 10/24/10 Sun

I'm doing P90x Lean:
Core Synergistics

Holy crap this is hard! I'm glad I did my research. I'm REALLY glad I did Power 90 first, I'm glad I'm doing this with 44.9 lbs of weight loss and only a 27.5% body fat instead of 34% and with a body weight of 219.6 instead of 264.5. I'm particularly grateful for the very handsome fellas that have gone before me and offered various levels of tips and tricks coupled with bad spelling and grammar. They have paved the way and their video blogs illustrating dramatic body change and mental focus are very inspiring. One of the best tips I am taking to heart is to not try to keep up with the reps and stamina of the guys on the video on my first day. Mentally I am just doing my best and forgetting the rest...I know I will get there...Just like I did with Power 90, just like I did with my AIDS ride that first year, and just I am doing with weight watchers. I have to realize that a 1 arm push-up balanced on 1 leg is not going to come easy, and since I have never fought in an army, or scaled a NYC skyline in a red Lycra suit, my body may have to get used to doing a 'spider crawl' like the experts on the DVD.

I must say I do love 'earning' the recovery shake at the end of the workout...yum...

Another tip is to follow the nutrition plan as closely as possible. It's estimated (and I've heard this time and time again) that weight loss / body transformation is 80% nutrition and 20% workout. I'm planning to adopt as much of the nutrition advice as I can as long as it sits within the framework of Weight Watchers...I'm still going to track my points, even if 1/4 of it comes from powdered drinks. I figured if I am going to put my body through the type of 'bring-it' punishment required in this routine, that I'd better fuel properly.

Tomorrow (Monday) Cardio X

p90x prior to Day 1

In the Beginning:

I heard about p90x from a co-worker so I borrowed her DVD's with the idea to try it out..That was in July 2010...Excited about the prospect, I printed out the FIT test, drove to the gym and took the test.

I FAILED THE FIT TEST...
I did not get discouraged. I had already lost 31 lbs on Weight Watchers so I knew I was in the best shape in 4 years (April 2006). The manual said I COULD still do the p90x regime but I would likely hate it because of the difficulty level...So I followed its advice and went out and purchased Power 90 - the predecessor and 'younger brother' of p90x.

I took the p90x box back to my co-worker with a sticky note on it that said..."See you in October 2010". I followed the Power 90 program most days and continued with Weight Watchers on the nutrition front adding some protein shakes, a creatine supplement from GNC and a GNC Men's Formula energy and metabolism vitamin. 90 days later from Power 90 I went from 12 pushups to 45 and my cardio increased dramatically..I also became a much stronger cyclist on the weekends. I lost an additional 13 lbs on Power 90 so I have a total of 46 lbs lost since Feb 2010...This is the best shape I've been in for over six years (4/2004). Now it's time to take it to the next level.

Hello P90X
My co-worker showed up with her p90x box again in October and asked me if I was ready... I borrowed her box again, and bought the p90x chin-up bar and in return - she asked to borrow my Power 90 DVD's so the swap is on.

I'm going to continue with my GNC vitamins until I run out and then order P90x recovery drink and vitamins.

I'm ready to bring it.
